Sunset on the Polygon

2018
Multi Media Installation

Sunset on the Polygon is a multi media installation that includes a table top architectural model sculpture that is 10 feet wide and eight feet across. The materials include wood, ceramics, plastic, glass, and sand. Behind the model is a thirty foot by six inch image of a sunset taken from the California coast during the wildfires of 2017. This installation was created for Bay Area Now 8 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

This project emerges from research on the power grid and the internet, and what forms of this system are visible. The implication of the invisible side of this system, specifically in the form of a twenty-four-seven cycle that relies on human labor, is represented through various model chair sculptures repeated in the model.
